Do you need carbon alloy steels?

Rolled Steel offers steel producers, service centers and steel mills in-depth knowledge and analysis of international markets so that they can improve their marketing, purchasing, sales, distribution and optimization.

We provide our clients with access to the best steel manufacturers around the world so that they can optimize their purchases while reducing the risks of market volatility.

At Rolled Steel we sell all types of carbon alloy steels. From the raw materials for obtaining steel, to practically all finished and semi-finished products.

Semi-finished products

These are the products obtained through the transformation of iron and other raw materials into steel. They are intended for the manufacture of flat and long products, although they are also used as a semi-finished product.

Slab

It is a semi-finished product of steel, with a rectangular section, obtained by continuous casting or ingot processes for its application in rolling mills, in the production of hot rolled coils and sheets.

Billets

It is a semi-finished product with a solid square cross section from continuous casting solidification processes. It is used as a raw material in long product hot rolling processes.

Finished products

Hot lamination allows to obtain two types of products depending on their desired shape. The finished products can be flat or long.

Flat products

They are products with a solid rectangular cross section, the width of which is much greater than the thickness. They are obtained from the semi-finished slab product and can be presented in coils or in plates.

Below, we mention the most common flat products, although there are many other families and varieties that we also commercialize both in structural steels, drawing steels and high elastic limit.

Hot rolled flat products

Hot rolled products are produced by applying a thermomechanical process to reduce the thickness of the slab (thickness of 1.0 millimeters or greater), at high temperatures.

Applications:

  • They are used by a variety of industrial consumers in applications such as the manufacture of wheels, automotive parts, tubes, gas cylinders, etc.
  • For the construction of buildings, bridges, railways and car or truck chassis.

Hot rolled flat products, pickling

Steel pickling is obtained by immersion in acid baths (mostly hydrochloric) or by mechanical processes, eliminating the metal oxides found on the surface of the steel.

Applications:

  • Automotive sector.
  • Pipes.
  • Plasma and laser cutting.

Cold rolled flat products

Cold rolled products are produced from hot rolled flat products reducing their thickness, obtaining products from 0.1 to 3 mm, improving the formability and surface appearance as well as offering greater control of tolerances. They can be of the type:

  1. Raw (full hard): Cold rolled without annealed, with very low ductility, intended for subsequent hot dip galvanizing or annealing processes.
  2. Annealing: Cold rolled, subjected to a heat treatment process to regain adequate ductility for subsequent cold forming operations.
  3. Cold black sheet (black plate): Annealed material, suitable for processing as a base material in tin plating and chrome plating lines.

Applications:

  • As a preliminary step for following treatments / coatings.
  • White line.
  • Pipes and pipes.
  • For certain applications in the automotive sector.

Coated flat products

Obtained through hot or cold rolled flat products, they are steel products coated with another material (zinc, tin, chromium or organic materials) basically to increase their resistance to corrosion. Among which we highlight:

1. Continuous galvanizing: It is coated on both sides with a layer of zinc. This procedure is carried out by driving the steel coil through the continuous band where it is coated with zinc as it passes through the zone of the zinc bath. The galvanizing process is used to improve the resistance of steel to corrosion. The applications are multiple: automotive sector, construction, appliances, safety barriers, railings, ceilings and walls, etc.

2. Galfan: Steel products coated by the hot dip process with an alloy of aluminum (Al = 5%) and zinc (Zn = 95%). This offers excellent flexibility allowing the manufacture of complex "high-draw" parts with high corrosion resistance, on average, twice that of standard galvanized products.

3. Aluminized: This steel is coated by immersion of aluminum through an aluminum hot bath. The aluminum layer gives the material high resistance to heat and corrosion. It is used in the automotive sector and in certain products for construction and furnaces.

4. Aluzinc: It is an alloy of aluminum, zinc and silicon in the following proportions: AL = 55%, Zn = 43.4% and Si = 1.6%. The natural protection of aluzinc is 7 times better than that of conventional galvanizing. Its applications are multiple, in construction (structural profiles, roofs and enclosures), white goods, general metalwork, etc.

5. Zinc nickel: These are zinc-nickel coated products in continuous electrolytic way of low carbon steels for cold forming. The coating consists of Zn with a Ni content between 10.5% and 13%.

6. Electrogalvanizing: Cold rolled products, coated with a thin layer of zinc applied by electrodeposition, on one or both sides, in order to increase corrosion resistance, improving the conditions of drape and weldability. This product is used in the automobile industry, white goods, packaging, coatings, etc.

7. Pre-lacquered: A steel product coated with paint in continuous lines on one or both sides, which offers high resistance to corrosion and wide aesthetic possibilities, which makes it ideal for application in the construction industry, white goods, etc.

Long products

They are products of regular and solid cross section obtained from the billets. As in the case of flat products, we list below the most common long products:

Corrugated in bars and in rolls

It is a rolled steel of great ductility and weldability. The steel bars are manufactured in different diameters ranging from 6 to 40 mm. Those smaller than 16 mm are sold in the form of bars or rolls, while those with a diameter greater than 16 mm are supplied only in bars.

Applications:

  • It is for exclusive use in the construction sector. Together with concrete, it forms the so-called “reinforced concrete” that provides a high degree of safety to the final construction.

Wire rod

Hot rolled product with a round solid section with a diameter of not less than 5 mm that is sold in compacted and tied rolls. It is an intermediate product that is used to manufacture drawn wires for reinforced concrete reinforcement and wires for prestressed concrete reinforcement, nails, screws and springs.

Applications:

  • High carbon content: It is used to manufacture braided, pre and potentiated wire cables for the construction industry.
  • Low carbon content: Very useful for its malleability, it is used to manufacture a large number of pieces such as mesh, nails, staples, clips, etc.
  • For machining: It is used for the manufacture of parts and mechanical parts through chip removal processes.

Plates and squares

Hot rolled steel in solid bars of rectangular or square section.

Applications:

  • Automotive.
  • Naval.
  • Building.
  • Farming.
  • Mining.
  • Metal carpentry.

Smooth rounds

Hot rolled bars, circular section, diameter from 6 mm.

Applications:

  • Building.
  • Forging.
  • Stamping.
  • Mechanization.
  • Calibrated.

Profiles (U, I, H and L shaped)

Metallurgical product with a specific section in the form of U, I, H or L, available in bars of great lengths in which the beams, columns or other piece concerning the supporting skeleton of a building are loaded.

Applications:

  • They are used mainly in metal and mixed construction, although there are countless applications such as the manufacture of cranes, electrical towers, railing supports, traffic sign posts, etc.

Pipes

Structure elements in round, square, rectangular or elliptical shape of variable diameter. The tubes can be structural, precision, calibrated, conductive, profiled or carpentry.

Applications:

  • They have a multitude of applications depending on their diameter and chemical composition, such as:
    • Construction (structural tubes).
    • Automobile, machinery and greenhouse industry (precision tubes).
    • Heat exchangers, special hinges and gate shafts (calibrated tubes).
    • For the conduction of fluids such as water, steam, gas, oil and pressurized air (conduction tubes).
    • Construction, equipment and road safety (profiled tubes).
    • Furniture, carpentry and locksmith industry (carpentry tubes).
